Papers of Helene Philibert mainly consist of photocopies and transcripts of original documents relating to John Paul Jones' naval service and arrival in America. Also includes correspondence, notes, printed materials, photographs, and news clippings. Most of the collection concerns Helene Philibert's research for Samuel Eliot Morison's John Paul Jones: a sailor's biography. Also included are research materials on the Montague, Minor and Weeks families; the Ball family, including Mary Ball Washington (1708-1789); the Marquis de Lafayette; and the Mason family.
